From Research to Reality: The Path to Zero Fatalities and How EDP Is Putting It Into Practice

Falling injury rates can hide the exposure that leads to fatalities. Research shows most fatal incidents start upstream of the frontline, where your safety data rarely looks.

Injury rates are falling across many industries, but fatality numbers aren’t falling with them. That gap is the focus of this roundtable discussion on SIF prevention.

OVERVIEW

This session on serious injury and fatality prevention brings research and practice together. Dr. Tanya Jenke will cover the Ten Pathways to a Fatality, a framework from her fatality research that is now part of government mining regulation and aligned with ISO 45001. Prashant Krishnan will share how EDP built SIF reporting across a high-energy risk organization and what the team learned along the way. If you own SIF across multiple sites or a large contractor base, this session is for you.

After this webinar, you’ll be able to:

  • Pinpoint the pathways most likely to lead to a fatality in your operations

  • See how leading organizations verify critical controls work in the field

  • Account for the contractor and economic pressures your injury data might miss

  • Take EDP's lessons on building SIF reporting across a multi-site organization into your own system

Research into fatal incidents shows most start with failures in design and risk decisions made well upstream of the frontline. Injury data was never built to catch those failures, which is why sites with green dashboards and followed procedures still lose people.
